A map for PST’s Performance and Public Art Festival
Pacific Standard Time, January 2012
In conjunction with The Getty, LA><ART and ForYourArt, we conceptualized and created (I wrote and edited) a map for Pacific Standard Time’s Performance and Public Art Festival, an amazing confluence of some of contemporary art’s most fascinating artists like Andrea Fraser, Suzanne Lacy and James Turrell, curated by Glenn Phillips and Lauri Firstenberg.
L.A. is a big city, sliced by the freeways that connect its far-flung regions. Because the Performance and Public Art Festival engages many of these sites—both within the city of Los Angeles and beyond—the curators of the festival have selected some must-see events for people who want to budget their time or tailor the festival to their interests. We have provided three targeted itineraries for those wanting: just the Outdoor Spectaculars (pg 14), to Sit Back and Relax (pg 17), or to head Off the Beaten Path (pg 18). If you’re able to make it to only a few events, these are the ones to see.
